Internet Use Affects Memory

The subjects were significantly more likely to remember information if they thought they would not be able to find it later. “Participants did not make the effort to remember when they thought they could later look up the trivia statement they had read,” the authors write.

Interesting to see some of the results of research on how our memory is affected by the Internet.  Looks like the Internet is becoming a prosthetic for our memory/ knowledge more and more each day.

Yes, we accept cash.

I recognize the risk associated with refusing to accept credit or debit card payments.  The last thing I want to do is cause inconvenience for our customers.  Unfortunately, the cost of that convenience is damaging our financial health…

I do enjoy using my cards, mainly because I usually forget to get cash out of the ATM and because using Mint to manage my budget means any card transactions I make are that much simpler (automatically categorized). But I respect and understand the decision of my favorite coffee shop to stop accepting cards.
